Steam Cleaning can kill up to 99.999% of Coronavirus & 99.99% of bacteria
A number of studies have been performed to ascertain the effectiveness of steam cleaners against bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19 Coronavirus. These studies have shown that using steam cleaners appropriately, at high temperature, high speed and for a period of time, can kill up to 99.999% of coronavirus, and other viruses, and 99.99% of common bacterias.
According to Professor Bloomfield from UNLV, “to actively kill the virus [COVID-19] you need temperatures of around 60 degrees [Celsius]”. To be effective, it is important to break down the mucus surrounding the virus and kill it with temperature. Steam is the recommended process for sanitising a viral agent of any soft furnishings or carpet, by the Australian Government, International Cruise Liners Infectious Guidelines and also specifically against COVID-19 recommended by the United Kingdom Government.
AS 4187 states ‘Moist heat in the form of steam under pressure is the most dependable, fast and economical method for the destruction of microbial life’.
Industrial steam cleaners are capable of much higher heat and pressure. Our dry steam cleaners produce dry steam at 170 degrees Celsius which penetrates deep into the surface leaving it clean, sanitised and dry for immediate use.
